President's Message

Dear Friends and County Colleagues,

The California State Association of Counties will celebrate the 125th year anniversary as an association during our 2019 Annual Meeting in San Francisco from December 2 – 6. It is my distinct honor to invite you to attend this meeting and preside over this milestone.

The meeting theme, Connecting California’s Communities, is especially appropriate for this anniversary, since everything counties have done and continue to do –individually and as an association – is about connecting communities.

“Connection” has been a compelling topic at each of our major events this year. At our Legislative Conference, we talked about the importance of local and state partnerships. At regional meetings this year, we talked about the importance of local government collaboration and connecting Californians to vital programs and services. Through our participation in NACo and federal advocacy, we know that our work at the local level connects communities across the country to the national level. Connecting communities keeps California counties strong – and we look forward to celebrating that at our upcoming Annual Meeting.

This year’s conference will feature thought-provoking speakers who will inform and inspire, workshops on critical issues of concern for counties, and key updates on the legislative priorities that guide many of our discussions and direct our advocacy efforts.

Our CSAC Service Project will allow meeting attendees to roll up their sleeves and connect with the San Francisco community, while a special awards breakfast will give you the opportunity to celebrate individual and group achievements. And, of course, there will be plenty of time in the schedule for networking, continuing to build strong relationships and partnerships, and sharing resources to connect California’s counties and communities.

Each of our 58 counties plays an important role in the lives of our constituents; but together as an association, we must continue to make every effort in Connecting California’s Communities. I hope you will join me in San Francisco for our Annual Meeting and celebration of CSAC’s quasquicentennial anniversary.
